Official DarkRP Rules

Disclaimers:
  • We do not limit enforcement to written rules. If a staff member feels your conduct on the server is unacceptable, their decision is final pending review.
  • We HIGHLY recommend having some recording/clipping software running when playing on our server. If staff intervention is required, we may request a video or clip of the incident to understand what transpired. He-said-she-said situations will most likely result in no action being taken.

General Rules:
1. Have common sense; understanding another player's or staff member's perspective is a vital part of enjoying your time on the server. Please contact a staff member if you have any doubts relating to rules, gameplay, or anything involving the server and its community.
2. Please refrain from taking matters into your own hands if you are having doubts about whether your actions in RP are within the rules. Please contact a staff member for any questions about an RP scenario or event that may have occurred.
3. Extreme racism, sexism, or hate speech of any kind is not allowed within the community. Acting offensive in-character is allowed to a small degree, please don't take it too far.
4. Interacting with players for the sole purpose of trolling, griefing, or harassing is not allowed.
5. Illegal or malicious activities within the community is not allowed.
6. Any form of extreme ERP (erotic roleplay) is not allowed.
7. Threats such as DDoS and Doxing towards the community or anyone within the community are taken very seriously, is not allowed, and will be reported to the proper authorities. Leaking of information with the malicious intent of distributing names, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses, or pictures of anyone is not allowed.
8. Harassment of players in order to annoy or disrupt their roleplay is not allowed. Actions which can be considered harassment can include but are not limited to: following a player around without a valid roleplay reason and annoying them after clear warnings to stop, consistently placing props/items and moving them in front/inside of players, or use of text or LED screens in an offensive way towards another player.
9. Hacking, abusing exploits, or using 3rd party programs to gain an advantage over other players is not allowed.
Roleplay Rules:
1. Character names must be realistic and non-offensive.
2. Dying due to a valid roleplay reason triggers NLR (New Life Rule) which lasts for 10 minutes.
2.1. Taking revenge on someone who killed you in your previous life is not allowed even after NLR.
2.2. You may not return to the same area you died at while NLR is active or if the situation that led to your death is still ongoing.
3. Shooting at or destroying a player's property without a valid roleplay reason is not allowed.
4. Disconnecting from the game during an ongoing roleplay situation you are a part of (LTARP) is not allowed.
5. You may not scam players of an in-game item(s). You also may not scam players within the community for transactions that include but are not limited to: purchasing credits for another player in exchange for in-game items, purchasing discord nitro in exchange for in-game items, or trading in-game items.
6. You may not powergame. Powergaming is when a player forcibly uses chat commands or other methods such as /me or /advert to command a player to complete a certain action without resistance or use of any in-game items.
7. Fear roleplay (FearRP) does not exist in this environment. If you are held at gunpoint, it is your call if you want to fight and die or submit and survive.
8. Spam opening doors or other objects in order to annoy or block players is not allowed.
9. Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM) is allowed but only with a proper reason. If you run someone over who is walking in the street, you are not in the wrong. If you run someone over who is walking on the sidewalk, you are in the wrong. Using your vehicle as a weapon if needed is allowed whether your target is on or off the street.
10. You may not use a loophole in the rules to gain an unfair advantage over a player.
11. Cop baiting is not allowed. The term cop baiting refers to the act of purposefully and excessively provoking players holding a government career in order to have them chase, arrest, or kill you for your own personal enjoyment or gain.
12. Purposefully damaging a players car for no reason is not allowed.
PVP Initiation Rules:
1. Killing or knocking out a player requires proper initiation detailed in the rules listed below.
2. Initiating on a player allows you to shoot, kill, or knock them out. A valid use of initiation can consist of another player's actions that may lead to your death or actions from yourself in order to gain something from a player.
3. Initiation only begins after a player has been either uncooperative or is a clear, active, and dangerous threat to you or your organization/party members.
4. PVP Initiation can begin in two states, active or passive initiation. Active Initiation against a player occurs if they are a clear, active, and dangerous threat to you or your organization/party members. Passive Initiation against a player occurs if they are not a threat, but are being uncooperative, extremely insulting, or they fall under harassment rules in General Rule 8.
5. If a player does not follow your commands, and the roleplay situation is within the rules, you must threaten the player to begin initiation by providing a proper warning. For Passive initiation to begin, YOU MUST PROVIDE AT LEAST 8 SECONDS for a player to act according to your demands. If the time given after the initial warning has passed 8 seconds, you are free to do what you want with the player as long as it falls under the DarkRP rules.
6. An Active initiation can only occur during a raid, bank robbery, mugging, or if a player is actively threatening you or your organization/party with a firearm or weapon that is guaranteed to cause harm. Refer to PVP Initiation Rule #4 for when a player is under Active initiation. If you properly gain Active initiation on a player, you are free to do what you want with the player as long as it falls under the DarkRP rules.
7. Examples of proper Passive Initiation:
7.1: You mug an armed/unarmed player and you give them a proper warning 8 seconds before you take action.
7.2: You raid a base of unarmed farmers and yell "Put your hands up!" in voice chat/yell chat 8 seconds before you take action.
7.3: You give a warning to a player to stop following you while attempting to run away from them. They continue to chase you for 8 seconds after you point your weapon at them and provide the warning. You kill them for not complying with your demands.
8. Examples of proper Active Initiation:
8.1: You raid a base and the player(s) within the base are equipped with weapons (visible on back). You kill all players within the property.
8.2: You mug an unarmed player and they equip a weapon during your 8 second warning. You kill the player.
8.3: You are getting mugged at gunpoint by 1 or more players but it is not known to the mugger(s) that you are carrying a pistol.
8.4: Your organization/party member was purposefully ran over on the sidewalk by a car. You shoot out the tires of the car and kill the driver.
8.5: You mug a player which triggers passive initiation. In the middle of your 8 second warning the mugged player equips a weapon which triggers active initiation. You kill him.
9. Any initiation on a player(s) is no longer valid after 10 minutes of no shots being fired, no living or active participant in the roleplay situation, or if the said player that has been initiated on has died and respawned.
10. If you plan on initiating with nothing but your in-game voice, it is your responsibility to provide proof to a staff member through the use of recording/clipping software if the roleplay situation you are in is being called into question in a staff sit. If you want to avoid the use of recording/clipping software, please use yell chat (/y or /yell) to properly convey your warning message(s) in order to begin pvp initiation.
11. If you call out any information that may prompt members in your organization/party to initiate with you, you are responsible if the said initiation is invalid.
12. An initiation against another player can only occur if they are within in-game voice distance (this distance is the same as local chat). The only time this rule does not apply is if you are the one initiated on by another player.
13. You cannot initiate against a player in/near spawn or the in hospital.
14. You cannot initiate against a player near an NPC. This rule is not applicable in the bank ONLY during a bank robbery.
15. You are not allowed to place props during an active initiation.
16. A surrendered player (even with a weapon equipped) cannot be killed unless the initiator's demands are not followed.
17. During initiation, demanding a player not to speak whatsoever cannot be used as a valid reason to kill them if they happen to speak. If the player is actively yelling for help, insulting, or threatening you, this rule is void.
18. Calling out a player or vehicle identification (such as the clothing and face of a player or the model and color of a vehicle) can continue a pvp initiation (refer to PVP Initiation #9). Act cautiously, passively initiate if you must in order to determine if the player is the correct callout.
Raiding & Countering Rules:
1. You can only perform one raid at a time and only on a single property.
2. If you are being raided, you may not lock your doors after they have been lockpicked.
3. If you participate in a raid (even at the end) you must wait 20 minutes to raid another player and 40 minutes to raid the same player/property. Unsuccessful raids still trigger the raid cooldown.
4. If you counter a raid, you cannot raid the same base you recently counter-raided nor can you initiate against the players that own the property.
5. In the event you are killed during a raid or counter, you must abide by the NLR rules referenced in Roleplay Rules #2.
6. You must follow initiation rules when raiding or countering.
7. You are not allowed to place props while raiding or countering.
8. Counter raiding a property does not have a cooldown.
9. You cannot participate in a raid if you're employed by the government.
Mugging Rules:
1. The maximum mug amount is $1,000.
2. The mug cooldown is 20 minutes. The mug cooldown applies to any participants in the mug.
3. You can only mug players for items that are either illegal or Drop On Death.
4. Mugging does not require initiation, instead it triggers Passive Initiation.
5. If you mug a player and they already have a weapon equipped (on their back) but not drawn, you can not gain Active Initiation on them. During a mugging, you can only gain Active Initiation on a player if they either draw their weapon or equip one from their inventory.
6. You cannot kill a player who has complied with your demands.
7. You cannot force a player to drop an item that is not Drop On Death.
8. You cannot force a player to withdraw an item from their bank or mailbox.
9. You cannot mug players near ANY NPCs (this includes the illegal smuggler & drug dealer). If a player flees towards an NPC, you have the right to continue the mugging.
10. Mugging a player as a group is allowed, however, the cooldown applies to all participating muggers. The mugged player can only drop a maximum of $1,000 even if multiple muggers are present.
11. You cannot mug a player with a weapon equipped and drawn in order to trigger active initiation.
Kidnapping Rules:
1. The kidnap cooldown is 30 minutes.
2. You must peacefully release a kidnapped player after 15 minutes (this rule is void if the kidnapped player is a hostage for a bank robbery incase the situation lasts longer that 15 minutes).
3. You must peacefully release a kidnapped player if they were your hostage for a bank robbery.
4. Kidnapping does not require initiation, instead it triggers Passive Initiation.
5. You may only charge a maximum of $5,000 for the release of a kidnapped player.
6. Kidnapping is separate from mugging. You can mug a kidnapped player, however, you must still abide by the mugging rules. If your organization/party is responsible for a kidnapping, your group as a whole is on cooldown from mugging the kidnapped player.
7. A kidnapped player can also serve as a hostage, however, they can not be from your same organization/party.
8. You may have a maximum of 4 kidnapped people at a time. This maximum applies to you, your property, and the amount of hostages you or your organization/party have in a bank robbery.
Building & Property Rules:
1. A "Property" is a location (typically a room within a building or a house) on the map with ownable doors.
2. Props can only be placed within your owned/coowned property. Props within your property must solely be used to fortify, decorate, or both.
3. Roof bases are not allowed. Building onto your roof or making a roof access point is also not allowed in your property. This rule is void if the property's roof is naturally accessible without the use of props, items, or boosting.
4. You cannot place props while raiding or defending a property.
5. You must leave at least 1 entrance open into your property. You are allowed to prop block other entrances.
6. You cannot force players to jump, crouch, or climb into your base/property.
7. When warning the player to step away from your property, you must provide a minimum of 8 seconds before taking action while also mentioning the time until you will take action towards the player either through chat or voice.
8. Barricades protecting your body may only be as tall as your shoulders (meaning your shoulders should be visible or at least partly visible). The shoulder rule still applies while holding a weapon and aiming down sights. Your head must also be fully visible.
9. If a player enters your property, you have the right to kill them. You may not bait players into your property in order to kill them.
10. Pixel gaps, pixel peaks, and unfair angles are not allowed. A "pixel" in relation to angles used in a player's property refers to a combination of props that protects the player to the point in which their head is not fully visible. Unfair angles mostly consist of angles where you can shoot a player but they can't shoot you or if the player is forced to crouch, jump, or slide in order to obtain the same line of sight as you.
11. The use of nocollided props is not allowed. You may not abuse the prop protection system to ghost props for your gain. Using a physgun to quickly move around your property by nocolliding props (especially during a raid) is not allowed.
Metagaming:
1. Metagaming is the act of using out of character information to gain an advantage while in-character.
2. You cannot know or act on any information that your character hasn't learned through roleplay means.
3. OOC chat is not to be used to convey or provide information about roleplay situations occurring in-game.  However, it can be used to help new players or direct them to places they may have questions about. Luring a player to a specific location for your benefit is not allowed.
4. Use the Advert chat if you want to meet up with players at a specific location, not OOC. Using PMs is also a valid method of conveying harmless information that does not provide the player(s) with OOC knowledge such as: where to meet up, good locations to base, fastest method to make money.
5. At the time of writing the first version of these rules (07/21/2022) an in-game radio and party chat system is not currently present on the server meaning it is impossible to convey information through voice from far away. Due to these current limitations, the use of Discord (a 3rd party VOIP platform) has been temporarily allowed as a secondary means of conveying in-character information.
Government Rules:
1. Law enforcement are not allowed to partake in the following: owning a shop, helping run a shop, or any illegal activities.
2. Corruption of any form is not allowed. Bribes to look the other way are allowed, however, police are not hitmen and cannot be paid to act upon another player.
3. Deadly force may only be used as a last resort when the situation requires self-defense or protection of civilians.
EMS Rules:
1. The EMS career (Emergency Medical Services) consists of the following jobs: Medic, Paramedic, and Doctor.
2. EMS is a neutral party, meaning they do not necessarily work for the government. However, they must still comply with law enforcement directives.
3. An EMS employee is not allowed to partake in the following: owning a shop, helping run a shop, or any illegal activities.
4. EMS are allowed to heal players in combat.
5. EMS are not allowed to participate in a raid, kidnap, mug, or begin any type of initiation on a player.
Gang Territories:
1. You may kill players attempting to take any territory.

3. Government jobs may not participate in the capture or defense of a gang territory regardless of the gang they are in.
4. NLR still applies to gang territories, however, you are allowed to return to a territory after death.
5. Gang wars are not allowed. Gangs may only kill each other for the specific purpose of capturing territories.
